Harper Adams Open Day - Low Cost Hereford X Dairy System

Investigating a low cost outdoor dairy beef system

Tuesday 12th June 1:30pm- 5:00pm (Regional Food Academy Lecture Theatre)

This event will provide an update on work to develop a low cost production system for dairy-bred beef calves. The key elements of the system are maximising output from grazed grass and reducing wintering costs by out-wintering on fodderbeet, before finishing during their second season at grass.

2:10 pm          Review of cattle performance - first grazing season

3:30 pm         Farm walk to see cattle being rotationally grazed
