Johnston heads up the Herefords at RUAS Beef and Lamb Championships

Thomas Johnston, Toome stood first place in the cross-bred heifer class with a home-bred 18-month heifer at the first Royal Ulster Beef and Lamb Championships, previously Allams fatstock show and sale. This female is by Moyclare Lieutenant, an AI bull from the Republic of Ireland’s Dovea Genetics and out of a British Blue cross Limousin cow which was purchased privately.
Weighing in at 554kg, the heifer was knocked down at £2,050 to Irvine Family Butchers, Maguiresbridge.
Second place in the heifer class was Julianne and Ewan Elliot, Enniskillen.
Taking first place in the cross-bred Hereford steer was D and A McCrea, Strabane.
